Default body plate decoding

Looking at the body ID plate i can recognize the codes (body nr, trim finish, paint code etc). However, after the paint code there is 'AA' and in the left top corner it is stamped 'B18' above the 'Style' stamp Anyone knows what those mean?

Care to mention the year car you're referring to?

The AA is a Black '65, and the B18 is February 18 which is the build date of the car.

no the AA after the paint code is the ECL code.

Neither of those is correct for a 65. AA is the ECL code after the interior color and B18 would be Sept 18. But we still don't know that it's a 65. We need to know the year and the build site (S or A code in the body build) to decode either correctly.

Sorry I made a mistake on the build date, but it will be a Black car with a 900 code.

What if it's a 64 or 66? All the colors have AA after them. I stick by my story, we need to know the year.

the VIN plate on behind the glovebox says it's a 64, and the exteriors of the body confirm that, hope this helps in sorting it out ;-)

Okay, so it's a 64, built Oct 18, 1963. The color was red. The AA is an ECL code showing limits to options. If you'll use the link provided by Black_Magic above and fill in all the choices, you can decode it yourself.

Nope. The exterior paint code suffix was "AA" on every car; the code with the ECL's to identify presence/absence of some body-related options is the TRIM code (unless it has a black interior).
