It looks like an aftermarket replacement 4qt. pan for a S/B chevy. It is not correct for a Corvette, mainly because of the drain plug on the side.

It looks like a replacement pan for 1963-1972 small block 327/350ci engine.

Thanks guys

Will a L79 dipstick work correctly with this pan, as that's what I already have?

Probably not, in terms of accuracy - the Corvette pan has a longer sump than the pass. car plan in your photos, so the normal oil level will be higher in the photo pan with the same amount of oil in the pan. If you use the L-79 dipstick, you'll have to make your own marks for "full" and "add".

With a little (and I mean darn little) ingenuity, you can make almost ANY dipstick work with ANY pan.
Here's how.
FIRST, fill the engine with the required amount of oil (for example 5qts/filter). Run engine long enough to circulate and fill the oil filter. Shut off the engine and let it sit long enough for all (or at least the majority) the oil to drain into the pan.
Using whatever dipstick tube you have, insert the desired dipstick into the tube all the way. Pull out the dipstick and check the level. If the oil is BELOW the FULL mark on the dipstick, then your tube is too long. Shorten it--------------IN SMALL INCREMENTS-------------until the dipstick indicates full (I like to use a tubing cutter to make a nice, straight, clean cut).
If the oil level on the dipstick is ABOVE the full mark, then the tube is too short. Scour whatever sources are available for a longer tube. Install the longer tube in the block and repeat the above process until the oil level is at the full mark on the dipstick.
This way you don't have to mess up an original dipstick.
TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EASY!
