Default Vent windows

My vent windows are all pitted. I can not find any repos and have been told that since these are pot metal, they won't last if rechromed.
What do you guys do for 66 convert vent window replacements?
Also is there a better place then Ecklers for replacement/repop parts for resto?
Thanks
Jay

That's BS. Check with some of the forum vendors. Virginia Vettes will restore them for you.

Send them to a reputable plater, one familiar with collector cars. Repros don't exist, and I doubt we'll see them repro-ed anytime soon.

I had my 62's pot metal door posts re-plated in 1978. They're just starting to show some pits, 33 years later. Plated pot metal won't last indefinitely, but odds are pretty good that they'll last long enough that you'll never need to re-plate them.

Exactly. Had the ones on my 62 replaceted in 1982, and I'm starting to see some spots just now (not even pits yet). I would guess that a good chrome job on pot metal parts done today, will outlive the majority of posters on this forum.

Like Jeff said, that's horse hockey. Charlie Santorelli did mine, or rather exchanged a set of pretty ones for a set of ugly ones. They were flawless, I don't recall the exact cost. I don't have a number for him but I can find one in an old Driveline if no one else posts it.

Charlie's located in Bedminster, NJ, and his number is 908-719-2354. He should have re-plated 63-67 vent posts in stock, ready to exchange. He also does real nice seat belt restorations.

Make sure that you call him between 9 & 4 eastern time, he can get cranky if you call him at night!

We triple plate the frames for $189/side. We can do yours (10 days wait) or and immediate exchange if cores are good. We polish the vent window frames for $60 and can weld back on the pivot where you cannot see that it has been broken off.
