Cleaning Knock Offs

I have(4) 63-64 knock offs that came from a burnt 66 that was bought in California this summer (will tell about the car purchase on a later date).
The rims were full of soot and burnt resin. Used East Off oven cleaner to remove the grime, but it turned out to be very tedious. I like to use glass beading to remove the soot and burnt resin. Will the glass beading change the finish on the face of the rims? I am not concerned about the finish on the rim backs.
Any information will be greatly appreciated.
Richard
Yes, glass bead will change their apparance. Are the wheels to be used on a '64? If not you can apply paint after masking the machined areas. If these are to go on a '64 you can try blasting with walnut shell at low pressure. This may/may not work. Will these wheels be used on a Bloomington/NCRS car? If not you have more leeway in refinishing. Call if you want to talk this over, or email. Bill
