Default 67 door latch mechanism

Could someone post a picture of a correct 67 door latch mechanism? I believe 67 is different from 63-66 latches, but I don't recall exactly what the difference is. A couple of pictures of the differences would be greatly appreciated.

I can send a pic of a '63 door mechanism if you want to look at that for comparison?

1963-66 latch is on the left and the 67 is on the right.
The spring in the upper L/H corner of the 67 latch is the difference. This spring will not allow the door to open when the door is locked and the inside handle is pulled.

By the way if you brake the spring... It's very hard to find a replacement.

Great photos Bill, any idea on where to start looking for that spring, my '67 is missing one.

Bill: Great photos and explanation of the purpose of that device (spring).

If there is anything I would want it would be an override. When I pull on the inside release I want the door to open.

That 1967 "free-wheeling" feature only operates when the door is locked; how many times do you get in the car, close the door, and lock it from the inside?

Do you need a R/H or L/H. The springs are different.

Will a '67 work on a '66 and earlier?

Hi John. My standard answer would be never. There are times, however, when my wife was in the car and we drove through "sub standard" areas of certain large cities.

Yes. They all mount the same and use the same rods. If you are going for NCRS PV it will be caught and most 63 -67 NCRS judges will catch it at a Regional or National meet.

The '63-66 and '67 latches are not compatible. The lock **** is in a different location.

The latches are compatible. The latch has nothing to do with the location of the ****. The rod that goes from the latch to the **** is longer.
