Default ignition shielding

I want to purchase a repro ignition kit for my 1961 283 with 2 four barrels. This engine has dist driven tach.....I'm not sure if some 61s and dist tachs and some generator tachs.....main question, i've noticed in the vendor sites they list a kit for a 1961 and one for a 1962. Is the difference in the dist tach drive ?

Tach drive distributors were on Corvettes from 1962-74. Corvettes from 1957-61 used a generator tach drive. This is why the top ignition shielding is different between a '61 and a '62.

All 61's used the tach drive generator, while 62's drove the tach off of the distributor.

The 62 top shield and right lower spark plug shield, are both different from the ones used on a 61 Corvette.

Also - wing nuts are used on the spark plug shielding on a '61 however, hex head nuts are used on the upper ignition shielding....many mistakenly put wing nuts on the upper shielding as well...

Wing nuts DO make for easier removal though!
BTW - just an outstanding engine compartment picture...

If you say so....I see nothing at all in the '61 AIM about shielding in the section on the fuel injection option...the section on the radio option (where shielding is dealt with) shows bolts in the upper shielding and nothing else.

I'm trainable though....if you show me I'll believe.
