First thank you guys for your tips as I have my car is coming along. I am dropping a 383 stroker in with a tremec 5 speed. I would like to get a little more meat on the rears to help hookup but was wondering what anybody has done with different backspace options, offsets etc to keep the original look hubcaps etc without chopping the inside. Thank you again guys.
I run 6" or is it 7" Monte Carlo Rally wheels (different offset) than the vette ones - they center perfectly.
The biggest deal is to use rounded sidewall profile tires - you can't run the newer style "square" profile tires in a 70 or 75 series (15") without rubbing the rear fender lips on bumps.
7" rim with 4-1/2"bs with 215x70x15 is the most backspacing for that size tire. can get a finger between tire bulge and spring leaf. more than an inch clearance outward. adjust backspacing to suit tire width.
