Well I figured out why my clutch was feeling a bit weird. I took it up to a friends shop to let him feel what I was feeling. He depressed the clutch a few times and felt the same thing, a little grind at the bottom
of the pedal. We popped the hood and I got in and depressed the clutch and the pedal pivot pin snapped off. Ordered a new pedal, should be here Wed. Shemp

glad you weren't on the road shemp......that issue is always on my mind especially in a parade or driving through a crowd!......
there are plenty of linkage issues where a part can fail and cause un intended consequences
I agree when I first noticed it I was in the Boardwalk parade in OC. It could not have happened in a better place than at a repair shop. I don't even have to trailer it home,I'll just go up on Wed. and put on the new one. Are there any clearance issues getting the new one in?

You'll have to remove the steering column and the pedal support assembly and replace the pedal with the support out of the car; good time to replace and lube the four plastic pedal pivot bushings too.

A short cut to replace the pedal is to hack a big hole in the left side of the cowl plenum to let the pedal slide out without dropping the column and pedal support.
Hope your guy don't try that like others have done!
Had similar failure on my '66. Had to drop the A/C duct & steering column to get pedal box out. I bought a repo part from a large parts place in Florida. Does not seem right. I can not get any free travel on pedal. Replaced clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, & pivot ball in bell housing for the fork. My original part I have had welded back together and machined down the part so it loks like new. I want to put it back in to see if I can propperly adj clutch. While apart I checked pin fit to brake pedal as the shaft goes thru it.
