64 Power window question
I must be missing something.
Any help greatly appreciated!
Jim
To completly replace your old power window wiring harness, there is a bit of work involved. Raise the door windows to the up position, disconnect the power window harness red wire (12 gauge) from the fuse panel, unscrew the circuit breaker, remove the shifter console, disconnect the power window switch, remove the old wire harness from the retaining clips under the dash, unscrew the door conduits, remove the vent window handles, door panels, put your hand inside the door openings and try to unhook the old power window connectors, remove power window connectors from harness, pull out the harness out through the conduits, push out the grommets (part of the harness) on each side of the car body walls, reverse installation with new harness. Smear dielectric grease on all the harness connectors for a good electrical connection.

Fortunately, I have the interior out of the car, including the dash, console, seats and carpet. (the carpet you see in the photo is only there to protect the new padding. New carpet will go in after paint.)
I'm replacing all of the wiring, and it looks like the windows are the most difficult.
Should I go through one of the two smaller holes at the front of the door, or through the large on at the rear?
Either way looks like a PTA.

The passenger window doesn't go down all the way. Anyway to adjust that?
Thanks again,
Jim
Bonus question, how many colors has this poor car been painted?

You have to raise your window and go through the large opening. Is your window stuck? If it is, you have to find out what is the cause of the binding-stuck motor, window is off the window guides. You may end up removing the whole power window assembly from the door. Bonus paint answer: I count 4.

Correct answer for bonus question - three.
Car was originally 'Silver Blue" then painted the dark blue, then red. When it was painted red, instead of painting the door jams red, they painted them black. I'm guessing that since the door handles didn't have the big washer the door was painted black behind the cutouts.
You should see what was under the hood..........
Thanks again. I'll report on progress later.
