The trim and VIN tags (and their mountings) look as I would expect them to look. There are some scratches on the trim tag but that doesn't look like "tool/chisel marks" to me; in my opinion it looks more like normal wear and tear on a 48 year old car.
I have seen a few my self and plenty more on other GM products and I have not seen ant that had the marks that this one has. I actually would not have given it a second thought except that his written statement was so suspect and almost every thing stated was so contrary.
such akward statements about correct this that and the other stated in such couched terms were red flags all the way.
Perhaps the scatch marks dont look like tool or chisle marks but the tool and chisle marks do.
Please help me here.
Why do you say this is Definately a restamp?
Thanks,
Rich
Just my opinion.
* Characters are very crisp
* Character depth and sharpness
* Pad is obviously (to me) decked
IMO, the entire string of characters was stamped with NEW stamps. Also, extremely nice and neat. Not typical factory production, to me.
This, alone does not make it a bad car, by any means. It may be a very solid, no hit, great car to have. I just wouldn't rely on someone telling me it's an original stamping and then pay for that statement.
You can buy a very nice coupe for under $50k. PM Mike Terry on this forum. I believe he has a very nice 63 coupe for sale.

Stamped nice and neat? The factory used a gang holder so all of the numbers should be lined up.Just because the stamp is not a mess it does not make it a restamp.I would like a better view of the broach marks as well as the rest of the stamp

The only tool or chisel marks I see are the delivery date stampings, which were supposed to be done on the VIN tag, but, some dealerships put them on the trim tag instead (if they even bothered to stamp the delivery date at all).

Yep. They used a gang holder and the characters will be in a line. I'm not an authority but I would bet your car that it's a re-stamp. There are no broach marks to look closer at.
No doubt. Just my opinon.
