You need to pull the carpet up over the hi beam switch and the switch is just bolted to the floor. I would clean the connections ( take the connector off and clean both sides). I would spray around the button with WD 40 and work the switch in and out. Sometimes the switch is just not making a good connection. If the switch is bad they are easy to replace.
Look at the switch where the wires connect to see if the contacts are burned by past bad contact and check the last few inches of wire for brittle, charcoaled insulation. Hopefully it's just the internal contacts coated from non use and a few clicks can get you going again.
