I purchased my backyard find in 2002 and after seven years, got it on the road. Of course, being a mere rookie on C-2's (or any Corvette for that matter), I entered the restoration process with little information. Unaware this forum existed at the time (what a Godsend), I proceeded by asking questions of anyone who seemed to know. Fortunately, as it was the original engine, I told the engine builder not to touch the engine pad or the numbers stamped on it. He did however paint over the engine pad.
My question: I have seen pics on the forum where the pad has no paint on the numbers. How do I remove the paint on the pad without screwing up the surface? Or should I just leave alone as the numbers are visible through the paint?
My plan would be to sell the car at some point later in life.
