I have a 1965 Stingray. I would like to change the seats from the stock low back to a later model Corvette high back type. Does anyone know if a certain newer year seat fits or fits close enough to make it work?
Several of us have installed seats from a '95 in our C2s. They require welding a tab onto the seat track but they are really comfortable. We did a 7400 mile trip this fall in our '67 with those seats and I think they are the most comfortable seats in any Corvette. They work well in a coupe, not so well in a convertible. PM me if you'd like more details and pictures.
I use 96 corvette seats in my coupe and like Bob said they are some of the most comfortable seats I have ever had.
I tried them in my 63 roadster but 2 main problems came to light.
The first is they stick up too high for my tasted in a convertible, but that is just personal.
The biggest issue for me is that you can't tilt them back far enough before they hit the rear hatch, so they are not as comfortable as in a coupe.
thanks to all, this gives me a good start on finding the right seat. I am concerned with the height and whether it'll look good or not. Had not thought about the seat not tilting back because of the back hatch. The Fiero seats sounds interesting, I'll have to look into that.
Here is my 64. With 98 Sport Seats. I bought seats and tracks both from Vette salvager Vette to Vette. Pretty extensive mods to tracks. Electical function all work except memory position.
Here is a shot of my 96 seat. I tried to use the electric tracks but they made the seat set to high for my taste. R6T7 also installed this same style seat in his 67.

Here is Kensmith's 3 part Fiero seat conversion for his 65.
Unfortunately Ken deleted all of his photos, but at least you can get the info on who makes the seat covers (http://www.mrmikes.com/fierovetter.htm) and a little insight into the mods Ken made to his seats when his text talks about cutting things.
Fortunately he's still a forum member, but now on the C6 side since he traded his 65 for a C6. So you can contact him to see if he can share the missing photos.

go to MrMikes.com click on corvettes and you can see my 66 with red leather Fiero seats. The headrests are cut of to fit in a convertible, Mr Mikes will make seat covers for the seats without head rests.

Corbeau sells C-2 "Sport" seats on their website for $320 each. Their mid year seat brackets are about 90 bucks each. In my neck of the woods the availability of used C4/C5 seats are rarer than hen's teeth and come with a premium price tag if you can find them.
Jeff do you sit lower in these seats. They look great. I would like to sit lower then the stock 65 seats. TIA
Yes they let you sit a couple inches lower if you use the mechanical tracks. I tried the electric tracks but made the seat too high. I would had to cut the floor boards to get them loww enough for me.

what style are they? would you have a model number?

Very nice IMO. Comes with headrest and various cloth/vinyl/leather combinations. Also has a "wide seat" option for big butts Just look for "sport seat" under 'reclining seat' heading. The seat tracks are available for mid-years.....so it is advertised. I will probably go this route when I'm ready for my seat conversion.
Here's the "linky" for the Corbeau sport seats . . . they look very nice - you can even buy them uncovered so you can take them to an upholstery shop and have them match your seat pattern!
