Is that a de-chromed Tiger or an badged Alpine?

Either way, who cares with that motor.

Hmm...maybe that one started life as my old (brand new at the time) '67 Alpine MK IV.

Yup, and it was a Bond car too! I drove a friend's with a mere 260 in it and that was quick. It would be scary to drive that one!

IIRC, those Sunbeams had a traverse Ford V8 in them and were surprisingly fast. You had to go through the firewall to get to the 4 inboard plugs.

They ran B prepared/production in SCCA solo events in the early 80's. Two of them ran regularly in national events. We'd keep track of who was the fastest Corvette (3rd in class). They were fast!

(I recall the engine in a conventional longitudinal position, but do remember needing to go through the firewall to get at the back plugs.)

Not really. The engine was mounted in the conventional longitudinal position.

I remember when I was a kid standing in my yard and seeing another neighborhood kid who was older and in high school, driving his 260 v8 Tiger passed me at a high rate of speed with a 1968 Galaxie 4 door Fairfax County Va. Police car trying to catch him. He went around the block twice until he was out of site of the police car, then pulled in and parked behind his house. I have loved respected Tigers ever since. Mark
