I have a 63 Roadster I just bought, and no keys. I remember when I was a kid and had one I also had a 39 Buick and the keys interchanged like they were made for each other. So, If anyone has a spare or some old keys would you mind sharing one with me. As I remember if I can get about ten one will work. Back in those days you left your keys in the car anyway! Very few cars were stolen, just something that didn't happen like today. I would be happy to pay postage and return them to you. My ignition switch is on "ON", And I need to turn it to misc as I understand to be able to remove the cylinder. Thanks! and have a great and blessed new year! My email is swmforensics@gmail.com
I just thought it would be interesting to find and old one and as I remember if you had about 10 or so you could get one to work. You may have to wiggle it in and out a little but one of them would work. I would be glad to mail you a deposit if you wouldn't mind sharing some of them with me and then return them to you when done? Just thought it would be good entertainment to start the year!
Some things don't change, I went to the grocery with my son, when we came out a Lady was trying to open her Chevy Truck with a coat hanger while her child and groceries waited in the cart, I offered to help open the door with the coat hanger for her and my son adviced trying my keys to our Chevy Tahoe first. Our key opened her lock with no effort at all. I did not try the ignition. My Tahoe is a 2002. I understand the keys now have chips inside that will affect the ignition function.
I have the code book, of which is stamped on the lock cylinder. A 4 digit number if you can get it out to read.........getting it out is the problem solver......Just last month or so I supplied a member with the 6 cut number and he had the key cut at a local to him lock smith
or as you are seeking another batch of keys to try.....sometimes it works as my 62 started a couple of my other GM pieces.....you will need a 'B-10 key for your particular year to try
Yeah Iron Cross, Both. I am retired and easily entertained, after doing more then 6,000 forensic autopsies, I guess I'm easy. Just thought it would be nice to try and I know there are many keys out there and thought I might be able to replicate one and put it to use. Thanks every one for the responses, great site.
Who said I kept it? Jeff. No, it was an interesting career good times and bad times like any thing else. You wouldn't believe the stupid things I have seen. Usually booze and or drugs, after midnight and people get real stupid!
