Making all the stops huh Ghost? Good for you, keep the legend alive!
I like the Chettah at the edge of the pics, always had a thing for them, ever since I bought one for my slot car track when I was 10!
Since the movie was from 1966, I always thought it was George Wintersteen's real Grand Sport. He raced it for a couple of years in SCCA events around that time.
But looking at this detailed still, I guess it isn't. The door handles and wide-spaced headlights aren't there, and the hood has '63/'64 indentations plus some weird cuts. If somebody made such a close GS copy that early, strange it didn't appear in a car magazine. Unless it was a studio custom that got trashed, but the rest of the movie was on such a tight budget I don't think they would have gone to such trouble unless Elvis's character was driving it. Heck, he drove the real, much rarer and more valuable original Sting Ray racer in "Clambake", supposedly with a pre-cellular car 'phone. His daddy in that movie was an oil man, so Elvis' character could have been based on John Mecom.
I love Cheeetahs too, Bill Thomas Race Cars did a bit of work on the C2 I still have, and I once saw a Cheetah with license plates in traffic on 17th Street in Santa Ana, California.
