Default Dual Point Distributor - Pertronix Question

Here is a link to a picture of the dist. currently in my car. It is definately not original. Based on my understanding is this a D.P. with the Mech. Adv. under the base plate or am I backwards?

I want to make sure I purchase the correct model Pertronix Kit.

Link http://ww2.netnitco.net/users/rclark/dist.htm

Thanks for any input.

Ryan,
It's been many years since I had a Mallory dist. but that's what your's looks like. It is not a GM dist. Pertronix makes units for the Mallory dist. but you might have to contact Mallory to determine the model # of your's. The Vintageperformance website has the Pertronix part #'s for the Mallory dist. If you can't fit a Pertronix to the dist. you have, you should consider getting a GM vacumn advance single point dist. and install the Pertronix 1181LSC or the Ignitor II unit. That would make the car more drivable on the street and help the gas mileage.

Does Mallory have some sort of ID code on the distributor so I know the model number?

Ryan
that is definatly a mallory distributor. The correct pn# pertronics kit is pnx ml-181. I think your dist. pn# is 2664501. Hope this helps.
