If that's the situation keep buying a 3 year battery and that's all you get.....I use the strongest battery that fits the box and I encourage my customers to do the same....not all batteries are created equal, that's why there is different price levels...I would suggest that to 'up grade' your battery and your cranking problems should go away.....
The 4 batteries that GM has replaced under warranty on my truck are the 72 month "Professional series". Unfortunately, that warranty ends with the 36 month warranty on the truck even if it was installed 2 days before the truck warranty expired.
You need to get more info. on batteries if you think the high amp. output ones are the best. They have thinner plates so they can fit more in the same size battery thus increasing the amp. output. However, when they discharge, the plates can/will warp, short out and your battery is toast.
If you want to get good battery life, the key is to have a disconnect switch or pull the ground cable off when not driving it. I have gotten VERY long life out of the Corvette (NAPA / Interstate) batteries doing it this way. Last battery still tested good in the 59 after 12 years, but I replaced it anyway for peace of mind. Thanks sooo much for all the input ...From what I've read so far is that I should purchase a "Group 24" battery. I'm assuming no matter who the manufacturer is that a "Group 24" battery would have the same dimensions as what's in my car now. And get as many CCA's as possible......Many thanks
I don't even shop for batteries any more. I simply drive to Costco. For the past 4-6 batteries I have had to purchase, I sat and did lots of research....price...review....CCA...etc. Nothing beats Costco (Interstate I believe) batteries in a price/CCA ratio. Add on top of that the great Costco warranties....done. Don't even look around. Drive to Costco and be happy!

Go to Walmart and get there group 24 Maxx battery. It has three years full replacement and high CCA's. I just put one on my 67 car, it's pricey at 130. but you get what you pay for these days and it' a PIA job I don't feel like doing often. If you are a purist just peal the stickers off and you may need to cut the hold handle off.
Probably my ONLY best move, besides buying my '61 Corvette, was buying the "Firestone Forever" battery 30 some years ago. I think I'm on my 6th or 7th battery now (lost track).. ALL FREE after my initial $49 purchase. Replacements are "top of the line" batteries and have been very good. And yea, I've got to find the oldest employee at the Firestone store to start the conversation about how they will replace the battery for free (I have the paper work) but they always come through.

I'm suitably envious! I've got a Forever battery long past its "Use By" date, but I don't know where the paperwork is.
Good for you for not only keeping the paperwork but also, making Firestone stand behind their warranty.

The group 24 and 34 batteries vent to the side and end up venting underneath the top battery retainer. The result is corrosion of the battery box assembly.
