Does anyone have any experience with wire wheels on a 61? I need to know what size wheels and tires will fit, size, setbacks, etc. Also, any experiences with California wire wheels or Daytons? Thes are both knock-off style wheels, and I am leaning toward them at he moment. Any comments and especially pictures will be greatly appreciated!
Hope these guys don't make a lier out of me.
Stood right in front of you last saturday telling you how great the forum was :yesnod: :yesnod: Looked you right in the eye and told you that you would get answers in no time.
Sorry you haven't heard anything yet.
If nothing else this will take it TTT.
Is a 57 reasonably close? My 57 has 1954 Buick Skylark (Kelsey-Hayes) 6" bolt-on wires with 215.65 15 redline radials and save for hard lefts with two passengers and a full trunk I have no clearance problems. These wheels have been on the car since at least 1963:
I bought the car in 91 from the original owner's widow (knew 'em both for some time) and had 'em trued, rechromed and added stainless spokes in 93. They are a PITA to floss but just look too good to even consider changing to another wheel.
Maybe this will uphold the reputation of the forum. I can send ya a LARGE  pic that was taken about two weeks ago at a local show if ya want more.
