Big event here in South Texas....USS Lexington is permanently docked at Corpus Christi...300+/- "Vettes on The Deck Of The Lex" usually around Labor Day weekend...Sells out fast....Way Cool!
LOL!....The steam elevator from the storage bay deck to the flight deck still works....You can see the brown elevator platform just below the bridge railing in the photo....A ramp leads up from street level to the storage bay deck....5:00AM loading....Eight to ten Vettes at a time....Presto!

I have taken my Corvettes on the Lex, here is a pic of the 61 on the deck next to an F-14. It is fun and a great cause for the Lex and Wounded Warrior Foundation.
Taking the Corvette on the elevator (10 at a time) was a hoot, the crew got 300 Vettes on and off pretty quickly.

Here is an aerial view of the 1st. Vettes & Jets event in 2007. The white arrow is pointing to my wife's '62. Since this was the first event the organizers were not sure how long it would take to put 300+ Corvettes on the flight deck. They wanted all the cars in place by 8:00 AM so we had to start lining up at 5:30 AM. I think all the cars were on board before sunrise.
