283ci engine question

Default 283ci engine question

I'm away from the house today (and the C1)....can anybody post a picture of a 283ci/270hp block's drain plugs ?

Got a question from a friend I'm trying to answer. Thanks in advance.

I don't have a pic. but they are the same as the other several hundred million small blocks. Nothing special about it being a 270HP.

So its just that square-ish plug on each side on the lower block ?
I honestly haven't drained a block in a longer time than I can remember.

If it's like later plugs, it's 9/16" across the flats, hex. I don't think Chevy used any square head drain plugs in the block or anywhere else on the engine.

It's a hex head 1/4" steel pipe plug. Be sure to use a 6 point socket when removing them.

then poke around the hole with a screwdriver and stand back!....if it's still in the car
the plugs are almost centered in the block just above the pan rail.....
