Can anyone familiar with classic torq thrust wheels explain the difference between the "original" and "d" models. I have a 64 coupe with drum brakes and would like to know if either model is compatible. Looking for a wheel close to stock size. Also is the gray color the same on each model or is one darker than the other?
Thanks

The "D" has a curved spoke to make extra clearence for the disc brake caliber.
Thanks - That's what I assumed the "D" stood for - their website is not all that descriptive. Can anyone chime in regarding the spoke color? Is the grey the same on both the "original" and "D" models the same or is one darker than the other?

Does anyone know if the TT D comes in a 17" rim and with the different Offset to accomodate a C4 Suspension....?
Hopefully someone Chimes in....
Thanks

Tim,
Back in the day (1964-1970) American Racing offered the Torque Thurst in Magnesium and Aluminum, on all the Magnesium wheels I owned and installed the spokes were not painted and the entire wheel was a natural color. Most Aluminum wheels were the same way. Many wheels were painted by owners for a "custom" look.
In the 90's when A/R released the Torque Thurst they were not available in the "D" configuration and the spokes are are dark shade of gray. In the early 2000's A/R released the "D" in aluminum with unpainted spokes.
Magnesium has not been available for years. Your 1964 can run either style on drum brakes. 15x6 or 15x7 - I run 15x6 on the front and 15x7 on the back of my '65.

Thanks - thats just the info I was looking for. I'm currently running Cragar SS and while I like their look, I would like to go with a darker color wheel that is "period correct", typical of what was available and what I would have bought back in the 60's.
My car is otherwise stock, but I remember the first thing I did when I bought my first car back then was get a cool looking set of wheels, something other than the factory offered. I think that's what a lot of us did.
Thanks
Tim
I had new TTD wheels purchased in 1969 on my 66 Vette (disc brakes), and they were "natural" color.
Around 2000, I purchased TTD wheels for the 62 Vette (drum brakes), and they have the spokes painted grey. They also fit over my disc brake conversion (70ish GM single piston calipers). But they would not fit on C2/C3 Vettes with disc brakes. The new versions supposedly fixed that.
