Default Alternator Code

Found an old alternator in the back floorboards of my '66. It may be the one missing from my engine. I'm not sure if it's original or not but here are the codes I found stamped on it: l 10069 3 37A 5K4-12V neg
Delco-Remy. Thanks

1953-1967 Date Coding: Date of manufacture code used for generators and alternators contains a calendar year prefix consisting of a single digit (the last digit of the calendar year); followed by the month (see month chart below); ending with the date of the month ("1" through "31").

Month Codes

A - January E - May J - September

B - February F - June K - October

C - March G -July L - November

D - April H - August M - December

"I" is not used.

My vin# is 194376S102572 . I've had two people decode the vin#. One person says the car was built Sept. 23, 1965 the other says Oct. 7, 1965. The latter would make more sense if the alternator was made on Oct. 4, 1965. Anyone able to discern which build date is correct? If I'm lucky enough to have the original alternator I hoping it can be rebuilt and be reliable.

Bingo!!! Oct. 4,'65 alternator.....Oct.7,'65 car build date. I can't believe my luck with this car. If the interior hadn't been partially color changed it would be completely original except for a GM '70 replacement radiator as far as all the numbers check out. Anyone know who can rebuild the alternator correctly?
