can anyone with a original 327 350 horse motor show me a picture of
your engine stamping. does it have two (2) sets of numbers on it?
someone told me that they have two sets of numbers the engine number
and the vin number stamped on the engine pad. is this true? i always
thought the engine pad only had one set of numbers which was the size
of the engine. either a 300 horse motor or a 350 horse motor or a 365
horse motor depending on the size of the motor installed.
i am confused i guess if the motor does infact have two sets of numbers
on the engine pad? thanks for any insight on this.

Two sets of numbers pictured below (not mine):
last digit of year and last 6 of vin
then where, when built and engine code (explained in previous post)
By the number beginning with "F" for Flint, Michigan. In the example above, Jan 3, 1966 (since the first digit of the vin derivative to the left of this number begins with 6 (for 66). So that engine was built Jan 3, 1966.
If the number was F0325HP then it was made Mar 25, and it was a 327/350 hp, with a/c, p/s, and high lift cam and 4 speed.
so how do you tell what day and month your engine was made or installed
in your car by the vin serial number????
You can't. The engine would have been manufactured days, weeks or months prior. The other stamp on the pad, in the photo above F0102HR means that the engine was built in Flint MI (F) on January 3rd (0103) with code HR which is 327 Base 300 K19 & Powerglide .
The year it was built is determined from a casting date at the rear of the block. The VIN will tell you only whether the car is a convertible or coupe and which sequence (serial number) it is. From the VIN it's possible to guesstimate what day the car was completed and reverse engineer what day before that the engine was installed on the bare chassis.
Why don't you just post up the numbers on your engine, or post a picture and I'll tell you the build date.
Your car (by the vin) was the 5,049 th car built in 1966. The build date of the CAR is on the trim tag under the glove box and is a letter followed by two numbers and is located near the top left. If you post all your numbers, you can get more info.
