You've got it correct except for two items - the body number (366) is the 366th coupe body; the coupe and convertible had separate numbering sequences. Also, the "C" date on the trim tag for a '64 A.O. Smith body is March, not November, as January was the first month of production for A.O. Smith in 1964.

Is it Normal to have a Body Made in A.O and Finished in St Louis as it says on the Vin?

If the Body Was March 64 and the Engine Nov 64 does this sound right?

With a 14XXX VIN, the car was produced in late March/early April, so it's highly unlikely that a November engine is original to the car. ALL midyear Corvettes were final-assembled at St. Louis; half of them from '64-up had the body built and painted at A.O. Smith, and the other half had the body built and painted at St. Louis. All of them went through Trim, Chassis, and Final Assembly at St. Louis.

What's the block casting number and casting date?

Where do i Find the Block Casting Number and Date ?

I thought it was the original Block as the Number stamped on the Block
(4114XXX F1108RE) I got from the Left Hand Side Top of the Motor near the Alternator ( Left hand Side looking at the Car) The 114XXX Matchings the VIN number on the Compliance Plate.

Just curious, why are you hiding the last three digits of the vin? What do you think might happen if you show it? I've heard reasons for a big block, but I'd be interested in your thoughts. Thanks

The block casting number is on the rear flange of the block on the driver's side, behind the cylinder head, where the bellhousing bolts up; for your car it should be 3782870. The block casting date is on the rear flange on the passenger side, about 6" outboard of the distributor - it will be a letter, one or two numbers, and another number (the format is like C 10 4, which is March 10, 1964).

The F1108RE is the engine plant machine code stamped on the pad at the engine plant, and the 4114XXX is the assembly plant VIN derivative code, stamped on the pad at St. Louis on the Engine Dress Line.

Hey Guys Got another Question, The Trim Code 490J ive been reading is Dark Blue Vinyl for Convertibles Bodies produced from the A.O Smith plant. The car is clearly a Coupe is this a common mistake, are there other Coupe Bodies with this code.

Nope. 490J is a dark blue vinyl interior in an A.O. Smith coupe. Dark blue vinyl in an A.O. Smith convertible was 490K.

Default Decoding trim tag_1965 roadster

Hi,
I'm looking at a 65 and the paint code on the trim tag is: 90000.
Can someone help me verify the original exterior paint color. I believe it to be black. Is that correct? The trim is 402 AA and I believe that to be black leather, is that also correct?

402AA is black leather. There was no 90000 paint code - look closer - it's probably 900QQ (Silver Pearl).

in what way do you want to know. a simple thing to check is in the door jams. if the car does not have factory power windows a St Louis body has a dimple were the slot would have been cut. A.O. Smith does not. another way are the rivets in the doors. there are more

I am the only one who think the OP has a re-stamped motor?

A Nov 64 engine would be installed in a 65 yr model C2 not a 64.

See post #4. Also, he never disclosed the block casting date.
