A guy I didn't know stopped by today and asked of my 63 verte in my open garage, is that a split window? Is that a StingRay?
Well, at least joe average has heard of a split window. He asked me what my car was worth, I said 50k as it has a brand new paint job and interior. He pretended to be disappointed when I said it was NFS.
A few years back I had driven an Ermine White '63 coupe that I was going to buy over to a friends house (who was pretty swift on old cars) and he asked me "Are you gonna buy that white Split-T ?"

(p.s., Split-T was a popular hamburger restaurant in Oklahoma City for years)

I get people asking me if my 66 coupe is a split window.
I just tell them Yea, see how the rear window wraps around, that's how you tell.

My mother used to do that. She'd confuse a split window with a t-top and come out with split-t.
I've heard others say that, too. I imagine that is what happens to many, getting the two terms confused and merging them together.

So then I guess it's simply a matter of time before I drive a '63 coupe to a "Gentlemen's Club" and have on of those "gentlemen" ask me : " Nice Corvette, is it one of those Split T-Backs ? " ?
I had a guy come up to me at a hobby shop, was looking for a 63 vert model to match my dads for his b-day. this guy stopped by and talked to me say he owned one, "Ya it was a '64 split window" I love when people act like they know what they're talking about
