Default Block Stamp

I have done a bunch of searching and I am a bit dubious about this block stamp. The last 6 digits of the 1st number set match the last 6 numbers of the VIN (104845), but the 7 as the 1st number does not. Is this engine the original based on this stamp? I also can't find a reference anywhere to the VIII9HT second set other than the HT should stand for the 350HP L79 motor. What do the experts say? Thanks!

The 7 means it's a 67 and then the last 6 are the ser # of the vin, beginning with 100000.
The V number means the motor was built in Flint MI, on Nov 19, 1966 and it's a 350hp, L79.

And I think the pad looks excellent, if you want to know my opinion. You can check the casting dates on the engine if you want to feel better about it.

I am glad to hear that and thanks. What really worried me is I can't find a reference to the III9 part of the stamp. This is a 67 built in late 66.

They used I's for 1's, so that is Nov, 19.

Makes sense then. The order date on the tank sticker is 10-04-66. I feel better too.

The pad may be alphanumerically correct, but most restamps are. I'd want a much better photo before pronouncing this one good or bad.

Pic could be clearer but it looks like an honest old pad to me...

Looks like a good pad, IMO.
