Default L-78 Drive & Pictures

Finally found time to drive it and take some pictures. Now I see why you Corvette guys like these things. The only other very quick car I own is a 61 Superstock Plymouth that will give it a run but it can't be kept on the road at high speeds without considerable effort. These cars cut like a knife and drive nice when they are sorted out.

Below are some pictures. I included some of the Plymouth so you wouldn't have to visualize; the car always was a freak of nature. For what its worth, my Plymouth appears in a feature in the current (April) issue of Hemmings Motor News, I think page 62.

Dan

Very nice 396 Vette! But I gotta' tell ya', I'm all over luvin' that ugliest of ugly Plymouth. That body style was least liked. I say that with no disrespect. What a sleeper setup with that cross ram manifold/carb setup. That's a 413 ci right? Sweet with that push button drive. Always loved those early go fast Plymouth/Dodges.

Very nice!

It's dressed & presented as a 413, available late '61 (to deal with the 409) This one is actually a 440 .30 over. Easier to build.

OMG...you have the best of both worlds. I'm an old Mopar guy and love the odd ducks out there. Any track numbers? Beautiful cars! Dennis

I read the Hemming's article (actually page 66). Nice job on the restoration. Excellent choice on the motor compared to what it came with. You've got a pair of high performance cars you should be proud to own

My first car was a 440 Road Runner. I now play with Corvettes.

You scored a double shot with me.

Both look great ! - you are a lucky guy

Sure love the 61 Plymouth Savoy with the cross ram.I'd hate to have to set the valve lash.Maybe he did hydraulics.
