Default 1965 big block engine value

Hi I'm new to the forum. I've inherited a big block from a 1965 corvette. My dad bought the car new in 65 and before selling car he removed the engine. The motor sat in the garage for years. I put the motor in a 1965 chevelle, and now would like to find a vette to put it in. Curious as to how much engine is worth. It's all original and from what I gather has about 40,000 original miles. Carburetor and valve covers have been changed. Can anyone tell me what it is worth or does anyone have an original 65 bb car for sale with nom.

Should be worth the most to the current owner of the original 65 Corvette your Dad once owned. Do you have pictures of the stamp pad?

The engine will have specific stamps on the front pad, which correlate it to a specific car. If perhaps you could reunite it with the actual car the value would increase exponentially.

That would be the ideal, but the motor also would have enhanced value to anyone needing a date-correct 396 motor.

Or for the original car's current owner to have a duplicate to the matching numbers engine that my reside in the car right now!

Just kidding, you have a valuable motor and it would be fantastic if it found it's way back into the car it came out of.

In an attempt to keep this thread alive, I'll give it a bump. I'm interested in this engine.

Lee, have you had a chance to take pictures of the front pad and casting numbers?
