My '62 has a ZZ4 355 HP motor. It was running and starting fine. Stopped to visit a friend and when I tried to start it nothing no click nothing. Horn Radio and Lights all work. I can start it with a screw driver by shorting out the solenoid. Charged the battery over night. No loose wires.
Definitely an epidemic...as usual try a jumper from your + battery terminal to your + ignition coil terminal and crank away...that at least divides your troubleshooting approx in half...
A no crank condition sounds like something between the ignition switch and the terminal on the starter. Check if you're getting voltage to the starter with the ignition switch in start. If not, work back from there.

Any Ideas
It has to be something connected with the ignition switch if you can start with a screwdriver jumping the solenoid. If could be the switch, the wire from it to the bulkhead connector, from the connector to the solenoid, or the connector, for a start (no pun intended).
Test light? It makes it easy to see where you lose juice when trying to start.
I was originally going to tell you it is hopeless and you need to sell it to me for $50 but I figured you wouldn't buy that answer.
Got it fixed after new solenoid and new battery cables didn't help we found the neutral safety
switch had been knocked out of adjustment and a splinter of wood shoved up between the transmission and linkage. I don't remember running over anything but maybe I did.
Glad to be back on the road.
Thanks for posting the resolution to your issue. So many don't and forum members that tried to help are left hanging....glad you are roadworthy once again !

I would ask for a refund on the solenoid and cables. This would be easy to quickly diagnose with nothing more than a test light and a couple quick probes.

The usual reply is "Sorry, no returns on electrical items"

The same thing happened to me at the track. The neutral safety switch on the 700R4 got knocked loose. I decided to just by-pass it...
