10 years sitting around not started stored in garage covered body and int in great shape , what should I b looking for. Has matching numbers 340 hp 4 sp

 

Welcome to the CF. This exact question has been covered many times and can be found by searching. Having said that, check the frame for rust through before the kick up at the rear in front of the tires. Look up under/behind the dash for birdcage rust. If this looks significant, actual metal rusted away, you may want to leave the car alone as this is unbelievably expensive too repair. Do the search and much more is covered. Since the '63 has many "one off" parts, any of them missing can be $$$$ Dennis

 

As Dennis said, frame and birdcage rust would be my primary concern. Engine #'s, color codes, VIN are areas that need to be inspected that effect price. After sitting so long, I would be concerned about how it runs or whether it leaks.

If you are unfamiliar with mid years, it would be a good idea to find someone in your area who knows these cars to assist you with the inspection. Alot of real Corvette people in your area, both NCRS and others. Good luck

Do not take anyone's word that the numbers match. Check them yourself or have someone who knows what they are doing check them.

 

Check the stainless steel molding. The 1963 had unique SS molding and if it's in bad shape you can spend a fracking fortune replacing it.

 

That is true but unless it is totally unsalvageable there are folks that can refurbish stainless to look like new. I do know the glass on each side of the split and the stainless around it, along with the 'cookie sheets' on the hood are hard to find and not cheap.

I'm looking at an SWC right now but the seller is stuck at $63K; it is also a 340HP 4-spd, numbers car with Vintage A/C added...

 

And make sure it's a 63 split window.

Seems the fabled found car in a garage is often a 63 split window when first reported, sometimes isn't even a 60s corvette by the time it's seen uncovered.
