Which vette makes a good daily driver?
It is becoming increasingly obvious that my swc will not be getting driven much after it gets back from the shop.
But I got the fever. What year range would make a good reliable three-season all-weather driver?
A lot of people here must have more than one!

My 63 coupe is for fun but I am not afraid to drive it anywhere. The first year after I finished it I drove it from VA Beach to Carlisle for the fun display. Great ride both ways and pulled 18 mpg. My 2000 Convertible is my daily driver.

What did you buy your 63 for??
It was made to be driven, not socked away in a garage. Drive it like you stole it! Stored cars deteriorate mechanically faster than "exercised" cars. Sorta like their owners.
They ALL make good daily drivers if they are maintained well, but I'd rather not be parking any classic in any parking lots unattended on a daily basis. That's asking for heartache.:

Gee, I drove my 66 Vette as a daily driver for 4 years, and my 70 Vette for 15 years as a daily driver in the Chicago area (247K miles when I sold it). My 87 Vette was a only 3 season daily driver (had a 93 GMC Typoon for winter) for 10 years. Currently my 03 Vette is listed as my daily driver, but it probably gets driven once a week (being retired does that to you - only go out when you want to).
Then again, my wife daily drove a 63 Avanti for 17 years (287K when we sold it)........

I plan to drive it regularly, but there are limited places to take it.
On the other hand, the thought of sliding around in a corvette has some appeal. Just gotta find one I don't have to worry about.

I paid my sister what she thought it was worth (40) and the price to restore it is easily approaching that now. I just don't see driving it under threat of rain or parking it at the mall. If you park it at the edge of the lot, it's pretty easy to steal. If you park it in the crowd, it's gonna get dinged!

True but I wouldn't notice another door ding on my 65, but I'd spot a small rock chip on my restored 62.
Insurance covers "stolen", it already has dings, and in Texas not likely to rust out.
Anyway, I think a 5th or 6th generation corvette would make an excellent daily driver. My 2007 is a great daily driver, both before and after I supercharged it.
It is comfortable, gets good gas mileage, runs great, has all the modern conveniences, etc.

You'd be surprised how much you can actually use the car. You learn to park it where you can see it, or take a car sitter (wife, kids, buddies etc) with you to stay in the car and be the center of attention. If you go cruising with friends, you can block it in, in the parking lots. You'll learn...good to hear you're going to use it as much as possible. Dad would be proud!
And factory air too......!
Post up some pics....please!

You have just made an excellent case for having a non-matching numbers and not restored to perfect car.
And exactly why I refuse to paint my 65 or replace any part of the interior trim that isn't otherwise damaged beyond repair.
