Default 1966 code dates

Can some one tell me where to find the correct date of production on the car's body by Month ,day year etc. Also can you tell by the vin# if it's 194376S111420 Oh and I want to add this ,that in the back of the engine which is out right now the cast says Hi Per Truck ss . Is this still a corvette engine. I'm trying to figure out what is going on from what I've been sold and facts. thanks

According to the C-2 registry birthday calculator, your car was built January 19, 1966.

What does the pad on the right front of the block read?? Should be two numbers stamped on it. One is a derivative of the car serial number. It should read as follows: 6111420. 6 is model year. First "1" is a place holder. The last 5 are the serial number derivative. That will let you know if the engine is a vette engine or something else.

To move forward on your engine, please provide the block casting number, casting date and info stamped on the pad in front of the passenger side cylinder head.

Lots of Corvettes have the hi-perf truck notations on the block.

For the body, take a look for the TRIM tag mounted under the glove box. Then use forum member Black_Magic's web Trim Tag tool http://www.stl-vettes.com/65Vette/tr...ag_display.htm to decode it. This will tell you when the BODY was built

Also can you tell by the vin# if it's 194376S111420
Black_Magic's birthday calculator http://www.stl-vettes.com/65Vette/bday.htm can be used to tell you approximately when the entire car rolled off the assembly line. Note that the body date and the final birthday of the car may not be the same, particilarly if your body was built at the A.O. Smith plant and shipped to St. Louis.

If the "Body" number on your trim tag below the glove box has an "S" prefix, you have a St. Louis body, and the build date code (a letter and one or two numbers) is stamped right below the "let" in Chevrolet at the upper left of the tag. "A" is September '65, and the number(s) is the day of the month.

If the "Body" number on the trim tag has an "A" prefix, it's an A.O. Smith body, and that build date code is when the body was built in Ionia, Michigan, not when the car was final-assembled at St. Louis; you'll need to use one of the calculators noted above with the VIN number to get the production date at St. Louis.
