A little know fact about the "Fink". Back in the '60's I worked at a GULF filling station which happend to be next door to a local business "Irwins Drug Store". Back in those days prescriptions were delivered and I recall a guy that look amazingly like a young "Fink" driving a Ford Falcon on deliveries. Not for sure but I would almost bet the farm.
Could we get an official denial or conformation PLEASE!
Earl
Its official - that was me! Most times I drove the '63 or later Falcon "pill wagons" with the bright white, lit-up Mortar & Pestle pharmaceutical symbol on top. One of the favorite prescriptions to deliver was Hycomine Syrup which we kept at the drugstore in a big green jug labled "This is good for moles, sore holes and pimples on the *****!" (Absolutely true!). A mild narcotic that got many folks through the day it seems. Occasionally I drove the boss's immense '62 Lincoln with suicide doors on delivery - what a lead sled !
That is back when girl's felt safe hitchhiking and more than once prescriptions were delayed while my passenger and I explored the confines of the pill wagon's back seat.
The cops all got free meals and sodas at the drugstore fountain and knew the cars on site so I could drive manically and seldom got in trouble. More adventures than I can recount here...like the time when 3 guys tried to rob me in "Foundation Park" a World War II-built ghetto and had to fist fight my way back to the car to escape (I was a lot younger then and had a mean streak)...before all the punks had guns!
This was LONG before cell phones so I had to finish my deliveries with a black eye and bloody nose.
Met my then girlfriend and now wife there 46 years ago -she worked at the soda fountain.
Ah those were the days...and Irwin's Pharmacy is still there and in business!
