Bulb is good, light on with parking lights and headlights but no left rear brake light. Right works fine. So what do you folks think , wiring harness or new fixture. Cleaned some corrosion from contacts but still no light. Thanks guys

That's a dual filament bulb so the running lights could work if only the bright filament was broken. Take a close look at the bulb. I would think if it was a ground issue the running lights wouldn't work either.
Yes, first question to ask. If so, check all the connnections at the harmonica connector at the base of the steering column. a bad connection there can cause rear lights to malfunction. Pilot Dan
Sounds like a bad connection or broken wire to the turn signal indicator switch in the steering column. The voltage feeds from the yellow wire at the connector. Could be anywhere from the connector in the column, through the rear connector or to the socket.
Looks like you need to drop the muffler ot get to it. Turn signal switch is new.
It could still have a bad connection or loose wire. Did the problem start when you changed the turn signal switch? With the ignition switch off, and brake on, measure for 12 v on the yellow wire coming out. If it's there, move on to toward the rear to the rear body connector, then the lamp connector. Or start at the brake light with the brake on, you should have 12 v on one of the connectors. If not, follow it back through the connector to the turn switch connector. Expand the diagram I attached and you can see there's not much to it, 12v and ground. If the ground was missing, you shouldn't get a tail lamp. Concentrate on the yellow wire from the turn signal switch to the tail lamp connector..
What's happening with the brake light? Did you check voltage on the yellow wire to the left brake light contact?
Yes and it's dead at light but good under the dash, wiring harness has a patch about a foot from the light. Someone was in there from the tape, ordered a new harness to be safe. Hope that's it
Thanks for the help, local mechanics seem to agree
