Default 3m panel bonding adhesive

Hey all,

Does anyone know what the difference is between 3m 08115 and 08116?

Which is better for holding on the front clip, door sills, etc.?

It looks like they both have a 90 min work time.

It looks like 0116 meets GM 6449G and Daimler Chrysler MS-CD 507, but I'm not sure that's too helpful.

Thoughts?

3M #08115 is a two part structural adhesive that may be used to bond either steel or aluminum body panels. 3M #08116 is a two part adhesive that may be used to bond steel, aluminum body panels, SMC, or FRP body panels. Both are bonding adhesives. You may want to research 3M #08219 which is used for structural bonding SMC/FRP panels to frames.

From 3m.com.....

8115 & 8116 can both be used for metal, SMC & FRP. Time specs are the difference.
I used 8115 to install a nose on a C1. Great product.

8115
90 min work time
4 hour clamp time
24 hour cure time

8116
90-120 min work time
6 hour clamp time
24 hour cure time
