Default Gorgeous 66 that will be at Mecum auction- Indianapolis

Just noticed this 66 427/390 on the mecum website. Wow, the car looks really incredible in the pictures!

I've only seen a few midyears in Trophy blue. It is by far my favorite color on convertibles.

Anybody going to this auction? I am going to attend and i look forward to seeing this one in person.

Beautiful car! I think I would spring for an original teak wheel for it though.

I just love Trophy Blue, that would be the colour that I would have checked in 1966. But I probably would have refused to take delivery after seeing that right front bumper ...

Default 66/67

Trophy Blue is code 980 in 1966

Elkhart Blue is code 980 in 1967

"people have told me that sellers do very well at the indianapolis auction." Time will tell.

PS-looking forward to Indy

Nice color, but that pass side bumper is way out of whack, what's up with that?

Unfortunately that front bumper sticks out like a sore thumb... it hit something. Wonder why they didn't straighten it?

I wonder if the bumper is distorted due to the wide/low angle of the camera lens. The proportion of the car doesn't look quite right.

If you look at the other pictures, you can see that the bumper really is out of whack, also looks like there may be a fit issue at the top of the pass door?

What happened with your 67, pass inspection?

I've seen a number of midyears with a passenger side bumper where the wrap-around end turns down a little. It's always the passenger side. My car has one, although it's no where near as bad as that one. It looks like they tried to compensate and level the wrap-around end, which hiked up the front, outside area in the process. Better to level them acorss the front and let the wrap-around end do what it wants to.

I don't know if these are originals or reproductions. I'm pretty sure my front bumpers are GM replacements from the mid-70s from the records.
