Outer door handle on 64

Outer door handle on 64
63 and early 64 door had the raised pads to mount the handle, I have late 64 so no pads, but I have a set of handles that don't quite flush up to the body. There is a slight gap on the inside (handle side).
Wondering if the guy I bought the car from replaced the handles with the pad style instead of flush mount. is the a difference in the handle shapes of 63/early64 to the late 64 and on handles?
If so, anyone have a close up pic from the top on a flush mounted handle?
Many thanks

I do believe that the handles for 63 and 64 were specific to the raised panel. I don't know for sure if they actually made a later handle for the 64, without the raised panel. Maybe you do not have matching handles for the doors.

The change to remove the pads from the 64 doors, came sometime around March 64.
The backside of the 63-64 handles are cut at an angle. There is almost no material at the bottom of the handle, under the buttons. On late 64-67 handles, the backside is cut almost straight, and there is about a half inch of material under the buttons.
If your handles fit poorly, it could be because of a few different reasons.
First, there have been foreign made handles on the market, that were cast poorly, and didn't fit the door correctly. Secondly, you may have handles for a different GM car. All of the GM handles from the era look similar, but have variations to the castings, where they attach to the door. A third possibility is that your door may have been damaged at some point, and not repaired properly.

thanks for the feedback,
based on those specs my guess is I have the 63-64 handles instead of the 64-67 handles as the plungers are also not aligning to the lock mechanism paddle internally.
Before I order new handles, does anyone have an overhead pic of a flush mount handle so I can see exactly what it should look like?
