1110905 Distributor Value 57 Fuel Injection
Hi, I have a 57 Chevrolet FI distributor with part number 1110905. There is a local guy interested in buying it. I am unsure of the value and am curious if anyone can help with a fair price for both of us. I think it is worth quite a bit but I don't want to price it unfairly either. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jason

The local guy told me I was crazy. He wanted to buy it for $100 and thought he was overpaying at that much. Either way, now that it is out I plan to post it on Ebay this week along with some other FI parts if anyone is looking.
Thanks,
Jason

A little story.
A couple years ago, I was on my way to Carlisle and a buddy gave me a distributor to take with me to try and sell. He said it was a '57 fuelie distributor. There was no tag on it.
I walked around for a couple hours with it conspicuously hanging in my grip. Several people stopped me and wanted to know if it was for sale. I told them I really had no idea what it was but I might sell it and I gave them a space number where I was located.
Anyway, a guy came by later, offered $1100.00 for it and I took it. I did ask him if he knew what he was buying and he assured me he did and sailed off like a june bug tied to a string.
Here's the part that baffled me. The vacuum advance when vacuum was applied would have retarded the timing instead of advancing it. I thought the thing was some kind of truck distributor made to drive a governor.
I don't know to this day if that buyer screwed himself or I got screwed.

Thanks for the replies. I agree, the FI distributors had no vacuum advance until 63. I wonder what you had. This is what the 57 1110905 distibutor looks like. The clamp on the ditributor can be loosened and the top portion can be turned to adjust timing.

The 57-60 250hp (275hp for 61) FI engines with a hyd lifter cam FI engine had vac adv.
There was no vac adv for 62 FI engines because they were ONLY solid lifter engines.

And, while we're on the subject of FI distributors, just in case anyone happens to have an extra 906 and 908 dist, I'd sure be interested in them. I want to combine the two to make a "907".

The distributor is now on Ebay. I know this is not a for sale section so it posting the link is inappropriate please feel free to delete it. I just though those following this thread may like to see it.
