Default Fuel Pump Issues

65 365HP.

I have what is supposed to be the original fuel pump to my car. It has the AC logo on the top and is stamped with the correct part number. When I bought the car it came with it in a box. The fuel pump that was on the car needed replaced because the pin that holds the pump arm was falling out. I sent the original pump to Arthur Gould and he sent it back rebuilt. When it was installed, it flooded the carb because it was putting out 15psi. I bought a new pump (no logo) and put it on the car so I could drive it.

I sent the pump back to AG after telling them what was going on. He said it didn't look like it was them who rebuilt the pump which was goofy because I only ever had one correct pump. He said the guy that would have rebuilt it recently left and he couldn't check with him. He said maybe he used a kit that we had that was sitting on the shelf for a long time. ??????

At any rate, he said he would rebuild the pump again and address the pressure issue. So he did and then sent it back. I just installed the pump and it's the same thing. It's overwhelming the floats again and pumping gas out the vents. I put the new (non correct) one on and it's fine. Needless to say I'm frustrated.

Does anyone know of any other company that rebuilds these pumps?

Most folks I know buy a rebuild kit and do it themselves. There are many companies selling the rebuild kits.....but I can provide names if needed.

Hemmings shows a listing for TERRILL MACHINE, INC in DeLeon, Texas. One year warranty. In business since 1978. 254-893-2610. I have not used them, so I cannot recommend based on personal experience; but they have been advertising in Hemmings for forever.

You might also try Paragon Reproductions. They seem to be repairing/restoring just about everything lately. I know that they have rebuilt OEM pumps for sale. They are a Forum Sponsor, and their website link is on the C2 Forum left hand margin.

I had same problem with new correct pump. It seems like who ever is making the springs for pumps has made them too strong

All companies with repro parts use the same supplier

A pump from Napa. (replacement ) works great but looks wrong. Crimped style not for 66 and earlier

Switch out the inner components from the one that works!

It's more about validation now. They didn't believe me. I'm sending it back again and they are going to run it on an engine.
