Heat riser return spring, how to install?
This is a picture of the heat riser I bought for my 65 L79. The way the return spring came mounted, it does nothing. One end fits into a slot on the stop pin which looks correct. I'm guessing the other end should be attached somehow to the lever arm, but it is not. Can someone tell me how it is suppose to be mounted?

The rounded spring is actually the "anti-rattle" spring. When there's looseness as it heats up it's "allegedly" there to prevent noise. Most fall off over time.
It looks like it's mounted backwards, and the bent end should be contacting the shaft, not the cast iron piece as you show. Those little springs pop off easily and maybe the stockperson just stuck it back on wrong to box it up.
