My Holley 2818-1 Carb on my 65/365 has the following numbers:
3849804
List 2818-1
3537
So I knew when I bought the car that carb was a replacement. I have two questions:
1. The Julian date 3537 would be the 353'd day of what year? Could this not be 77-87-97 or 07?
2. If I wanted an original correctly dated 2818-1 and my car was built the second week of December 1964, what month would be correct for a carb? There is one on Ebay right now with a 3rd week in December date.
The four digit date code began about 1972 so your assumption of 77,87 is valid. I believe Holley discontinued the 2818 in the 90s but recently has resumed reproduction.
The carb was installed at the assembly plant in St Louis so any date within the 6 months prior to your cars DOB is NCRS correct. The date code was in the form year/month/week. Month code was in the form of 1(Jan) thru 0(Oct) and the letter A (Nov) and (B) Dec.
2. If I wanted an original correctly dated 2818-1 and my car was built the second week of December 1964, what month would be correct for a carb? There is one on Ebay right now with a 3rd week in December date.
Thanks!
Jason
That one won't work for your car date-wise, as it was made after the car was built.
