Look what we found .......
Not Corvette, but old like us! My bud em'd me this, not far away (60miles) from me. Unfortunately, he didn't get the number so I could check on the price. Parked on a lawn on a country back road. Anyone know what model of Buick this is, and it's rarity? .........
I found a 54 rag for sale on line, fully restored. He was asking.......73K$. YIKES! But I'll bet restoration costs are huge for these things.
Robbie. From the pictures it looks pretty decent.Yep the cost to restore that car you better have deep pockets. If by chance you can get the guys number i know of someone who might be interested in it.Bob W
It would appear to be either a 53 Super convertible, model 56C or it is a 53 Roadmaster convertible, model 76C. Can't tell which it is. Besides the Skylark (which this is not one) these were the only two convertibles listed in the Buick lineup according to this palette of models shown.

Wow, those things are BEASTS! Looks like the roadmaster did have 4 ports from a look at them. Here's a rear shot, what a battleship! A candy apple red battleship.
that does not look like a conventional folding top, rather one that slides back like the old Nash's.
never seen anything like that...
Bill
Bill,
You maybe on to something there. Look at the chrome/stainless at the rear edge of the roof area. No other convertibles had that. Also, look at the rear window in the top. It is a small oval rather than a full view unit. Not sure what this thing is. It is rather unique though.

Looks like he's made a ragtop from a coupe Paul, the stainless around the back window looks like this one........must look funny with the top open/down. I knew there was something weird about the top when I first saw it.

I was going to guess about '52 or '53, guess I was close. I WAS around back then but too young at the time to know one car from another. That's an attention-getter for sure!

I want wheels like that for my 62.
That's a Skylark, made in '53 and '54 quite rare. Cutdown windshield and different beltline. Similar cars were '53 Olds Fiesta (ultra rare) and '53 and '54 Caddy Eldorado.

Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
