Default Verification of VIN No. by GM 1967 Chev. Corvette

Hi,

I'm a journalist from Germany and I'm preparing an article of a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Big Tanker. According to the Black book, only two cars has been build in that year. One is still in the United States and another one has been delevered to Austria.

I have a VIN No. from an ancient owner and the guy told me, that he owned the second car. So for me it's interesting to find an "official" person (from GM e.g.) who can confirm to me, if it's really the No. of the second one, which has been build.

Do someone know, to whom I can ask for ? Thanks a lot.

Hello and welcome.
There are no official records to confirm how many 1967 big tank N03 cars were actually built, popular opinion is 2, but others believe that there were probably several more than that.
Jim Gessner would be a good person to contact, you can send him a private message through this forum at "Jimgessner"
Good luck with your search, it will be fun to see how this thread develops.

Thanks, I will contact him and post later what I've found out. I've
heard that Racing models haven't registered. And there are some rumors, that export cars aren't officially registered. But some guys told me that the second car has been sold in the U.S a couple of years ago. But later on I got knowledge that this information was a fake and it was a original 1966 Big Tank with L-88, which was declared as the 67.

Someone else told me, that NRCS is coming up with information, because there are actually more 67 Corvettes on the road, than GM had produced. But I don't know when and if they will publish these informations.

So if anyone knows something detailed, I'm glad to hear of it.

Rumours of factory documents 'about to be released' have been circulating longer than the 20+ years I've been in the hobby. Don't hold your breath waiting from NCRS or anybody else having anything at hand.

Here is a supposed one for sale in Austria, I'm guessing it's the one that you are inquiring about?

Yes indeed. I'm trying to find out more about the history before Mr. Riekman has restored the car and later on sold it to a german Big Tanker fan. Latest news: The car has been sold to an American collector.

I am curious as to history. DAVE BURROUGHS from Bloomington probably has the vin numbers and history of the two known cars. I have heard there is a third any maybe even more cars out there.

As I remember there was a Marina blue / blue 300 or 350hp car at BLOOMINGTON in 1986 Special Collection. I will see all those people June 27-29 at this years event in Champaign, IL. and ask.

The posts of this image by people who "just got an email" are getting curious.

Closing thread until more information received
