Default Crate Motor?

My 65 327/300 engine is tired and I am looking at rebuild options. One option is to replace it with a crate motor and put my original motor in safe storage. I am building a nice driver that I want to look stock. I do not plan to show the car at Corvette events. I do not belong to the NCRS and I do not care what they think of my ancestors if I have an "Incorrectly Restored Stingray." My question is, can I make a new 350 crate motor look like a 65 327? My objective would be to make everything visually the same as the 327 except the numbers stamped on the pad. Is that possible? Thanks for the always good feedback.

Not unless you modify the new cylinder case by boring a hole in the back for the draft tube/PCV breather tube.

i believe Tom Parson has said there is a 350 block with a breather hole in the back, i just don't remember what it is... no crate engine will have that hole

Yes, if it's built on a 3959512 350 block - most of them had the boss and hole for the rear crankcase vent tube, and had the hole in the rear bulkhead wall for the oil separator can. With any other 350 block, you'll need to use the '68-up PCV arrangement in the valve covers.

Thanks, I will check around to see if anyone is offering that block. It just seems like it is a lot cheaper to go with a replacement engine and I will never have to worry about hurting it.

Thanks,
