I've been waiting until today to reinstall my transmission after having trouble replacing the pilot bushing. Put the clutch in last night and got everything else cleaned up. I grabbed the clutch fork to clean and install it and noticed the clip that rivets to the fork has one side broken off. It never crossed my mind to check it before now.
I live about 1 hour and 45 min from Zip but they are not answering the phone so I guess they are closed today even though their catalog says different. So now I guess I order and wait a few more days! My quick little 2 hour job is turning into more than a week. Thanks Murph!
I am assuming that the fork you are speaking of was the original one that came out when you pulled the tranny, yes?
Did it work fine when it was in with the broken clip?
All the clip does is pivot the fork on the ball of the bell housing between the throw out bearing and the linkage. I have heard of many that have had this clip broken on one side (like yours) that the clutch operation was OK.

I'd replace it.
I'm going to wait and order a new clip, no sense in rigging it up just to save a few days. I was taught and try to teach my son if your going to do something do it right the first time. Of course when I look at my sons Jeep it seems that I'm not a very good teacher!

I was just wondering if it worked fine when it was in with the broken clip?
I ask because Id like to know the symptoms if and when this happens in future......
I didnt infer to not replace it For Sure Replace - Thanks

It was working fine with no symptoms. This whole project started out with replacing the speedometer drive gear. Couldn't do it without pulling trans. Once trans was out I just thought I would through a new clutch in even though the old one still had plenty of meat. Turns out the pilot bushing was worn really bad as well as the trow out bearing. Looking back the trow out bearing was making noise in neutral with pedal released.
At least I know everything will be in good shape with the exception of the trans. Maybe I should rebuild that while it's out!
