Should be around 12" Hg. at 750-850 rpm.

We took reading from the vac tube to distributor at less than 1" Hg. at 750 rpm. Would incorrect base gasket have an effect? Vac jumps up at around 1300 rpm. Have heat issues on this 67
Thanks for note

Port to which distributor advance is connected in stock configuration is PORTED vacuum and will not have signal at idle. Connect vacuum gauge to front RH side of center carb where choke-pulloff is generally connected. This location is manifold vacuum.

My 435 (which is significantly out of tune) pulls steady 14-15" at this location.

Hope this helps.

You would also be advised to put a plastic T in that vacuum line to the choke pull off and hook your distributor vacuum advance up to it. Car will idle better and run cooler.

Im only getting a 1 Hg at the base center carb on r. side. Need a pic of correct base gasket.
Thanks all

Sorry if I was not clear enough. The port at the base on the RH side of the carb (perpendicular to crank CL) is PORTED. You will not see a reading there at idle. You will need to connect the gauge to the port where the choke pulloff is connected. Comment above about connecting the distributor advance to this location using a tee is a good one. Makes for a much cooler-running 427.
