Anyone have the part number for the pilot bushing to convert powerglide to muncie? 68 327.

Thanks,

GM still has them but they aren't readily avalable, I'm in Northern California and the bushings were sent out from Michigan I believe.

Closer examination (put my glasses on this time) the first half of the pilot bearing is wobbled out. Wonder what would cause this?

Unless I misunderstand your description it's probably just routine wear. The input shaft nipple may not go all the way through the bushing and that is where the wear is concentrated.

Yep, I think you're right! I managed to get it out with a tap and bolt. Apparently the shaft nipple rides on the first half of the bearing. Anyway, is it necessary to soak the new bearing in oil before installation? Seems like the last time I installed one, I actually boiled it in oil. Waste of time or needed?

Don't do anything to it - just install it; it's Oilite bronze, and the required lubrication is already there.

Default Pilot bushing for powerglide crank

Bill ,if your looking for a conversion bushing ,your going to have to get a Dorman 690034. The powerglide cranks never got the final reaming and have about .029 smaller ID.
I don't know if the Dorman bushing is made of Olite but I have used them without problems.
The diemensions are standard bushing .593x 1.095 and the conversion bushing .593x 1.065. You need a .002 to .003 interference fit, so you will have to measure the crank ID
There's also a Turboglide buhing Dorman p/n 690035 with a.593x 1.073.
If your set on the Olite bushing you will have to turn one down as necessary
LOL
