Default heat shield question?

What finish and or color should the exhaust heat shields and the straps be?. I was told high heat black. But I vaguely remember my vette 25 yrs ago that they were unpainted (hence they rotted away and fell off. Unless of course the paint had burnt off), I'm currently installing them on my 65 small block and they are bare metal. Any help is appreciated.

I painted my new shields with Por15 exhaust manifold gray just to keep them from rusting. They have only been on the car for about a year now, but so far so good.

Best of Luck.

If you leave them natural? They will rust before you get out of the driveway.

I used high temp alumablast. You could probably use high temp flat clear too.

These have been on for almost 3 yrs. 3000k miles.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but Miguel, do you have a photo of the drivers side shield?
Do you also coat the pipes with alumblast?
Thanks
Jim

I used cast blast high temp on the exhaust manifolds. The pipes are alumnized from C Central.
