Engine squeal
I'm getting a squeal or whistle when the engine gets warmed up. I've soaped the alternator belt, checked the fan clutch, seems tight no wobble, and it doesn't spin more than a 1/4 turn. Water pump new with the rebuild (not many miles ago). Seems to be coming from fan area or maybe alternator. It starts out very soft, then gets louder. Doesn't seem to change pitch or volume as revs change. Not a metallic squeal/whine.
My guess is still the fan clutch, but wife disagrees. I have a 327/350 (vette not wife lol). No PS, PB, etc.

Try warming up engine till noise appears........then remove the belts......if noise is still there, that will eliminate fan clutch, alternator, and water pump. I had a squeal that I swore was in the engine compartment......it turned out to be the throw out bearing. When noise is present, push in the clutch pedal, if squeal is gone, T/O bearing is bad. Also, check and make sure the nut holding the fan on the front of alternator is tight.
